You can be a medical doctor within indian army wings too. Depending on your educational time line (MBBS / postgraduation), age, you can get promoted to various ranks for example Lt. General, Major General, Brig. etc. The rank for initial appointment is captain, which is equivalent rank in airforce/navy, if a candidate has full medical registration certificate (i.e. MBBS + compulsory rotational internship). If the candidate has not completed rotational internship (= with provisional Medical registration), then he can join at the rank of Lt.
