Hello Anant,Welcome to CareerGuide!!!Thanks for visiting MERA CAREER GUIDE and coming up with your query. The study of Biotechnology is a blend of subjects related to Biology and subjects like Mathematics,Physics,Chemistry and Engineering. A simple definition of biotechnology can be using the properties of living organisms to produce desired products. It is a research oriented field. So most of the work is carried out at research institutes and laboratories.Biotechnology fields applies to a number of fields -

  • Medical and Health Care
  • Agriculture and Animal Husbandry
  • Food Processing
  • Bio-Processing
  • Chemical Engineering
  • Drug designing and Manufacturer
  • Environment Conservation

As per your query the eligibility criteria in all universities for pursuing masters either in M.Tech or Management one should have completed B.E or B.Tech in Biotechnology or Food Processing /Leather technology/Chemical/Industrial Biotechnology Bio-chemical engineering/Bio- Medical & Instrumentation/ Engineering/Bio-Informatics/Genetic Engineering/ Bio-Process/B.Pharm (any branch of Life Sciences)is needed in order to pursue M.Tech in any university.

While the eligibility criteria for MBA in Biotechnology in Pune University is -

Should be a Graduate or Master from Science with Special/General Biotechnology ,Biology, botany,Chemistry,Microbiology,Zoology,Biochemistry,Physics etc.,Agriculture,Medical Sciences,Ayrved,Pharmacy,Veternary Science etc. can apply for the MBA program in Biotechnology.

So if you see there is no university that offers a M.Tech or MBA in Food Processing to the candidates completing there B.tech with ECE.So there is no chance for you to get an admission in M.Tech /MBA in Food Processing.Because you had no relation of studying Life Sciences in your B.Tech ECE.

But there is one option for you available if you are really willing to complete your M.tech in Bio-technology and not particularly in Food Processing but in any disciple of Bio-Technology than you can pursue your M.Tech in Biomedical and Instrumentation which is one of the disciple of Bio Technology. As per the eligibility criteria an ECE student can apply for this branch.

The universities from where you can pursue your M.Tech in Bio -Medical and Instrumentation are

1.SRM University

2.Vellore Institute of Technology

I Hope you find the informatiion useful and helpful.

Wish you Good Luck for Your Future Career.

Feel free to get in touch again.

Thank You

Warm regards,

Prathamesh K.

Dear Aspirant,

There is terribly wrong in what you are thinking. Food processing, management, ece are so different subjects altogether. How did you arrive at a decision to do Food Processing?

What is the guarantee that you will like Food processing and will remain in that? There is a chance that later you may like something else, then will you also run for courses for that particular thing?

ECE itself has good scope and there are good jobs available.

As per eligibility of ECE, you wont be able to get into Food technology / processing, since you will be a half learnt person and candidate for the industry too. Its like first becoming a graduate in commerce and then asking for direct Masters in Sanskrit / Dance / Music / French...

PLEASE THINK ONE MORE TIME.

To be best sure of what suits you for your career, I would suggest you to undergo an online psychometric test from CareerGuide which will help you understand yourself in respect of your strengths, weaknesses, emotional quotient, etc. and will exactly tell you which career is ideal for you.
You can then call counsellors to discuss.

Best wishes!
