Career in Income Tax is one of the Good Career Option. The Income Tax department have many career opportunities out of which Income Tax Officer is one of the Good Designation in the Income Tax Department. The work of the Income Tax Officer is to deal with the Tax related issues that comes under the Central Board of Taxes.The Income Tax Officer exam is conducted by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC). You can look out for the notification in the employment newspaper or on the SSC official website.

 The Eligibility criteria for the Income Tax officer i.e SSC exam-

  1. A candidate should have completed a Graduation Degree from a recognised University from any stream.
  2. Those who have completed 18 years of age are eligible to apply for the exam and the upper age limit is 27 years .
  3. Physical Standards (Minimum)-Height: 157.5cm;Chest: 81cm, with a minimum expansion of 5 cm
  4. Physical Test:Walking: 1600 meters in 15 minutes;Cycling: 8 Km in 30 minutes.

The exam consists of -

1. Prelim Exam

2.Main Exam

3.Personality Test and Interview.

Whereas there is also another option you can give an Indian Revenue Service exam (IRS) exam conducted by the UPSC every year.

The Eligibility criteria is as follows

1.A candidate who have completed a Graduation Degree from any stream from a recognised university or who is in the last year and is waiting for the result can apply for the exam.

2. The age should be 21 years to 32 years; 5 years age relaxation for the Reserved candidates and 3 years for OBC.
