Dear Aspirant,

I am so happy to see that youngsters like you are willing to come to the teaching profession and especially in your case, I am more happy since you are still in 12th and you have already thought about this option as a long term career. Lots of blessings to you.

You can definitely become a Lecturer in Senior College for BSc and MSc.

Firstly, you will need to complete MSc in Microbiology from a recognised University. Post completion of Masters degree with minimum 55% marks, you need to then appear for UGC NET / SET Exam. NET / SET exam is compulsory in case you wish to teach in senior college (i.e. to the students of degree college and post graduate degree college).

To teach in junior college or schools, one needs to do BEd.

To further strengthen you career, you should immediately start planning for PhD just after MSc. PhD is a must for good salary, stable career and career growth to the Dean / Director level.

Best Wishes

Yes,

You can become a lecturer after choosing the Microbiology as a subject.

All you need to complete the masters in Microbiology and then apply for the lectureship eligibility tests like CSIR NET.

The NTA (National Testing Agency) is the CSIR NET Exam conducting body through which you can get selected for lectureship and for Junior Research Fellowship.

This exam is only conducted for the science stream candidates.

Here you can check the subjects for which this exam is conducted –

  • Physical Science
  • Chemical Science
  • Mathematical Science
  • Life Science
  • Earth Science

As you are pursuing Microbiology, you must apply for CSIR NET Life Sciences.

Once you clear this exam, the officials will provide a certificate that can be used to apply for the post of Assistant Professor in various colleges and institutes.
