Wanted to do interiors after completing my btech as I am not interested in programing and cse field i am good at drawings and creativity so wanted to do interiors

Hello Student,

You have realized your interest in Interior designing or is it just an alternative tocareer in computer science. It is better late than never. But it is important to understand ones own interest, aptitude and skill and choose a career according to that. Interior designing is one the fastest growingfield and most sought career options in India.

Do you feel yourself good at drawing, painting, imaginations , creativity ,organizing, communicating ,originating etc.? Do you have understanding of Fashion, patterns, cultural preferences, current trends? Do you feel youhave ideas to transform simple spacesinto comfortable, beautiful, planned living space by adding extra zing to it? Do you have idea of present and past style of architecture? Then you can definitely go ahead in this career. The talents inside you can be developed by training in interior designing.

Interior designing is a blend of artistic talents and creativity displayed in arrangement of living space into rooms, offices, retails, showrooms, hotels and resorts, conferences hall, banquets, exhibition halls , theatres, commercial establishments, residential and landscape designing etc. The knack is to craft right kind of atmosphere according to clients taste's and preferences and budget. you will be responsible for everything, right from the decoration of walls ,floors, roofs, windows, lighting, shades and textures, to placement of indoor furnitures and other objects customizing clients needs.

You need to enroll for a professional training program in Interior designing. you can think of a bachelor in fine arts (BFA) from reputed institutes which offers specialization in interior designing. Alternatively, you can think of a diploma course in Interior designing available at many cities which will give you the knowledge required to enter in this discipline. You canuse your knowledge in computers and can do courses in CAD computer aided designing and then merge your knowledge to work in this field. Many companies do prefer graduates with multi skills. You can apply in large architectural firms, building contractors , public works departments, town planning bureau, hotel and resort chains, regional and metropolitan development works, real estate agencies and you can also open up your own firm and remain self employed. it is a lucrative business opportunity but after some hands on experience under established interior designers. Only then it will be immensely rewarding profession.
