Hello

Age is never a bar for pursuing an education. You have mentioned your desire to study an engineering degree at 27 years. May I know what are your educational qualifications until now? Have I known these details, I could better tailor my answer for you. However I shall give you a overall picture on how this could be possible?

To study an engineering degree, it depends on what course you studied at your school level, especially at the HSC level. Did you study Maths, Physics, Chemistry until 12th? To study an Engineering degree at college, Maths and physics are often treated as the most mandatory subjects at school level. If you have not studied these two subjects, then colleges may not accept students to study an Engineering degree. So you studying an Engineering degree highly depends on whether or not you have studied Maths and Physics at school level. If you have studied, then you may consider the following Engineering disciplines:

  • Physics, Chemistry and Maths
If you have studied the above subjects as part of your school education, then you can study the following Engineering disciplines like the Chemical engineering, Electrical engineering, Electronics engineering, Mechanical engineering, Auto mobile engineering, Production engineering, Engineering management, Manufacturing engineering, Industrial engineering, Electrical and electronics engineering, Aeronautical engineering, and Aerospace engineering.

  • Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Maths
If you have studied these four subjects as part of your school education, then you can study any of the Engineering disciplines that are mentioned above plus the following degrees. So with a Biology in your 12th level, you can also study Biotechnology, Nanotechnology, Bio nanotechnology, Bio informatics, Bio medical engineering, Industrial biotechnology, Medical biotechnology, Environmental engineering, Environmental biotechnology, Genetic engineering, Plant biotechnology, and Animal biotechnology.

  • Physics, Chemistry, Computer science and Maths
If you have also studied Computer science as part of your school education then you can pursue an Engineering in any of the disciplines that I indicated in the first group PCM, and additionally you can study BE/ BTech Computer science engineering or BTech Information technology and management.

  • Just the Maths:
If you have studied at least Maths at 12th level then you can study the following disciplines in Engineering. Architecture, Fashion technology, Textile engineering, Interior designing, and Furniture designing.

If you have already completed a Diploma or a BSc degree before and are now interested in studying an Engineering degree, then you can apply for an Engineering admission through lateral entry. Lateral entry means, with a BSc/ Diploma you can directly join the Engineering college from second year and therefore you can complete the degree within three years.

Hope this helps. I really appreciate your desire to study now. My best wishes for you to complete your studies successfully. Good luck.
