There is only one exam conducted by the UPSC in the name of INDIAN ENGINEERING SERVICES EXAMINATION IES, This is one of the most prestigious and well-famed exams in the country, level same as of the IAS. After qualifying in each of the stages of this exam, i.e. PRELIMS, MAINS and INTERVIEW, one has to give the preferences for the various services, like, IRES(RAILWAYS), MES(ARMY), etc.

  • Through GATE

After completion of the degree in civil engineering,  graduated aptitude test called GATE, is conducted across the country for the admission in the M.Tech courses.

The creamy layer student sorted out from this examination are allowed to apply for the engineering posts in various Public sector undertakings like: coal India, OIL, NTPC, NHPC, IRCON, RAILTEL, HLL, HAL, BHEL. SAIL, GAIL, etc.

  • Through The State Government Engineering Exams

There are some very important examinations conducted by the various state governments for the posts of ASSISTANT ENGINEERS, JUNIOR ENGINEERS and SUB ENGINEERS, to the departments like PWD, Irrigation, Public health engineering and many others.

  • Autonomous Recruitment

Some of the government examinations are itself conducted by the parent organizations like National highways authority of India NHAI and many others subjected to the rise of vacancies.

  • Senior Section Engineers In Railways

Being the most common exam SSE exam is conducted by the RRB time to time, along with it exam for Junior engineer is also conducted by the same.

  • Private Job Opportunities

The era of privatization had created huge opportunities for the civil graduates in the private fields.
