Hi There,
As mentioned earlier, This field is related to study of chromosomes to detect genetic disorders.
And as such the main requirement is to study Biology and Physics as a combination.
So for the Undergraduate level, since Cytogenetic is offered mainly at the masters level ( either an M.Sc or a Pg Diploma Program)
Thus at the undergraduate level, you can opt for a 3 years Undergraduate course preferably in B.Sc Genetics.
Other options includes a B.Sc in:
BiotechnologyBio-medical SciencesMolecular BiologyCheck the following Institutes that provide a B.Sc In Genetics:
Thereafter you could opt for an M.Sc in Cytogenetic technology.
As you have rightly said this field is inclusive of both work related and a Research oriented field too.
After an M.Sc, you can opt to work in the laboratories of hospitals and or diagnostic centers, studying the genetic components to help detect a disorder, due to gene mutations.Or if interested can go ahead with Research, whereby finding out results of genetic mutation and bringing out remedies for the same.
Hope this answers your query.
Wish you all the very best...........
As I have already mentioned above, Cytogenetics is mainly a specialization available at the masters level, i.e. an M.Sc or a PG Diploma program.
See above, mentioned the links to few institutes that provides the courses.
And as it is clear that cytogenetics is the diagnostic tool used to determines genetic disorders due to a gene mutation or chromosomal abnormality. Thus after your M.Sc, if you are not interested in research, you can get jobs in Clinics, hospitals and or diagnostic centers.
Mainly you would be taking the samples and studying them in the laboratory to determine any particular issues.Earlier it was restricted to only during pregnancy, but these days even after the child is born, these tests are performed.
Hope this is what your question was.
Wish you good luck...........
You can refer to a few universities below:
Master of Science in Genetics or M.Sc.
Master of Science (Honors) in Genetics or M.Sc.
Master of Science in Human Genetics.
Master of Science in Applied Genetics.
Master of Science in Biomedical Genetics.
Master of Science in Microbial Genetics and Bioinformatics

One of the most sought-after and fascinating bubble shooter careers in healthcare is that of the cytotechnologist, also referred to as the "disease detective." rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow" These less well-known medical specialists are skilled at using a microscope to find aberrant cell growth
.
Certainly, I'd be interested in learning more about cytogenetics through your courses if they were explained, and I'd appreciate it if you could also let me know about the job opportunities in this field. geometry dash
