Dear Aspirant,

Choice of a career field should be entirely dependent your interests and aptitude. In actual scenario whether you work in industry or research, success solely depends on your interest and outlook towards the particular area you work in. Eventhough marks and CGPA etc.. plays some important role in some initial screening test, they are not the sole criteria to evaluate your potential. So I would suggest you to do a self analysis so as to find what area you want to work...Whether you like with mechanical engineering stuffs or work in a IT sector doing software job. There are career prospects in both the areas but your success depends on your hardwork and dedication. All the very best !

To know about the mechanical field and some career prospects please follow the following link which gives some useful information:

If you are looking for IT sector jobs, you have make sure you are properly trained in programming languages and have aptitude to do coding etc.. There are lot of software companies in which you can try to get a job.
