Dear Sir/Madam, I am currently pursuing my third year Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics and Communication.I am very interested in networking and have decided to do a CCNA to pursue my career in that field. But many of my well wishers advised me to take up a future in software side as it is more rewarding than a career in networking. Is it so?I am not too keen to work as a software professional. Please help me to come out of this dilemma. Also please suggest me if there are any other good courses that I can do to improve my growth in the networking side of things. Expecting your quick reply.
Hello Deepak ........
Read all consequences
First of all i would like to say that it is very good at your part that you decided to come out of this dilemma in your third year of pursuing a degree only. This shows how sincere you are regarding your career, good keep it up. Next , it's not necessary that you follow the same path as other do that is jumping into software sector while pursuing a degree . I want you to first sit and think which field you are interested in because there is a possibility that the field you choose will continue with you till the rest of your life.
As you told us you are pursuing a degree but you want to change the study to networking as told by your well-wishers may be what I think you are confused because its third year of pursuing a degree and now your well-wishers are telling you to change but have this is totally depend on you to change or not before you do any thing take any decision just think you will be able to change the study area you will able do that and read every ups and downs of your career step because if it backfires you will be ready .
Take decision on Your own If it comes out to be networking field then according to me you should go for it because this field also have a great growth and future can move to "Network security" also. I am going to mention the courses below .I want you to know that may be in the beginning a start in the networking field may not be so attractive or charming like in software side , but after you gain little experience there is no turning back. You gain go for cisco certification courses like CCNA,CCNP etc. or you can opt for Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) etc. There is also a benefit that you are still in third year so you can give some spare time for the study of these courses if you find them satisfactory then continue it or you can come back for the preparation of software courses during your final year.Lastly i want you to know that you must always remember "try to get what you like or you will be forced to like what you get".May be this discussion is productive for you.my best wishes are with you choose the right path.take care
Hi, it's really good to hear that you are looking forward to such important decisions in the third year itself. It's not important that what others are suggesting you, do whatever you feel like doing, and its important to have passion in what you work, what really interests you, rather what attracts the majority of people, so if you have an interest in networking, go for it!!
to start with you can go for CCNA Certification, it is the first step in networking field, it will build your foundation in networking field, along with you will have fundamental skills and knowledge of this field.

What is Networking ?
as you are saying i am pursuing graduation and want o change area of study
Networking is the informal social exchange of information and ideas among people who have a shared profession or particular interest. A single piece of common ground is generally the starting point for networking.
Professionals utilise networking to broaden their networks of contacts, learn about employment prospects in their areas, and get a better understanding of current events and trends in their fields and the wider world.
Understand about Networking
Given the rising number of networking possibilities accessible to those trying to start or enhance their professions, it's crucial to do your research before committing to a specific networking organisation.
While it may be tempting for a new company owner or job seeker to join as many networks as possible, it is a better plan to focus your time and efforts on the organisations that best meet your requirements and interests. Many networking groups will arrange special meet and greet events where possible new members might attend a meeting before joining.
It's critical to become a contributing member of a networking group after you've joined. People that utilise networking effectively strive to contribute something of value to other group members rather than merely exploiting the relationship to promote their own interests. Networking can help you find new areas to build your business, as well as possibilities for cooperation, strategic joint ventures, and partnerships.
