As we are very well known to the fact that commerce is the branch related to business which deals with economic part of the Legal, Social and political system and also a choice of a big crowd. Commerce is more numerical and less theoretical in nature, syllabus as well as depth wise. Therefore, students generally prefer their career in the field where the calculative part is used majorly.

  1. Charted Accountant (C.A.)

This is one of the best professional courses for building up a successful career in commerce stream. This professional course is provided by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI).The head office of ICAI is in New Delhi and many other branches are located all over India. Chartered Accountancy is a fruitful career and has excellent prospects for employment in local and multinationals companies, local and foreign banks, in audit firms etc.

In academic part of this course, you are required to clear only three exams to complete this professional course. The first exam to be cleared is Common Proficiency Test (CPT Test). This exam contains only MCQ having four subjects namely Accounts, Economics, Mercantile Laws and Mathematics & Statistics.

After CPT, the next level is Integrated Professional Competence Course (IPCC). This exam is divided into two parts. The first part contains four subjects, namely- Accounts, Law, Costing & Financials Management and Taxation. The second part contains three subjects, namely- Advanced Accounting, Auditing & Assurance, and Information Technology & Strategic Management. After clearing the first part, you are eligible for starting the internship. The mandatory internship is for a period of three Years.

The final step of the exam has two groups itself containing four subjects in each group. CA is considered as the most difficult examination in whole India. After being CA, one can work as a Financial Officer, an advisor, a tax consultant, an auditor depending upon whether you settle for a corporate job. This professional course requires hard work and sincere efforts.


  1. Company Secretary (CS)

This is another professional course that is opted by commerce stream students. This course is provided by The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI).To get the Degree of Company Secretary, A student has to clear all the 3 Stages Examination which is as follow-

Foundation Program-This is the first exam which includes multiple choice questions on subjects like Law, Audit, Accounts, Mathematics etc. To Clear the Exams, one has to score 50 % marks.

Executive Program- After clearing the first exams, the next level that student has to clear is Executive Program.

Professional Program- After clearing the Executive Program, the student has to clear the final stage, which is known as Professional Program. It is the most difficult stage. All the exams of CS Course are conducted twice in a year.

A Company Secretary is basically responsible for all the regulatory compliances of the company and acts as an in-house legal expert.


  1. Cost & Management Accountant (CMA)

Those students who neither interested in pursuing CA or CS, they can go for CMA which is also known as a Professional Course and is one of the best courses. This professional course is generally provided by the Institute of Cost Accountants of India. This course is also categorized into three stages (Foundation, Intermediate, and Final) like CA or CS. The student has to obtain at least 50% marks in all stages to clear the exam.

There are many vacancies available for a Cost & Management Accountant student in almost all the sectors of the Economy. As per the Companies Act, Certified Cost Accountants maintain cost accounting records, helps in planning, do cost auditing, controlling and costing of products. Nowadays, many new industries are being set up because of increasing demand for manufacturing goods; they require CMA for the smooth functioning of the organizations.


  1. Certified Financial Planner (CFP)

Besides above professional courses, if students are keen to build up a career in Personal finance, wealth management, insurance planning, mutual fund investing then this course is best suited for them. If any student wants to enter the world of the financial planning, he needs to get the certification of certified Financial Planner (CFP).
