Firstly a good manager irrespective of the field or department he is a manager of, requires to be social, may be definitely business social more. A Manager basically handles people, apart from the domain he is related to. So if a manager handles people, then he has to be social. Being social for a manager helps alot in terms of gathering information, resources, references, check points, knowing through people interaction how is the corporate culture outside his organisation he works for, to know how people deal with complex situations, tackle day to day problems at work and office relations, etc. A Manager should definitely take part in business social activities like attending seminars, workshops, conferences, meetings, shows, exhibitions, trade fairs, webinars, etc. which makes him understand all the above listed aspects. If a Manager is social he gets more responsibile, sympathetic and caring for his own juniors and also understands his superiors more well. In this case, a Finance Manager will be in a better position if he is social enough, since the finance field is so dynamic and changing, that through his contacts and relations he can get hlp and support for his work and also in turn help others when others are in trouble.
