As far as being a lawyer is concerned, Interpersonal skills are the least important skill they require at their work level.
But when it comes to a corporate lawyer, who is mainly involved in Business dealings, negotiation with clients, advising their clients about future investments and outcomes, as well as predicting future liabilities of an investment.
All the above roles need Good communication skills.So if communication is a part of interpersonal skills, then Yes, it is essential.

Law is one of the most preferred career by many of the students and parents. Law as a career is considered to be one of the respectable career. Law as a profession has been practised since ancient times and so it is one of the oldest profession that we find in the world.
Earlier as a career was very much restricted to the Justice of Courts. A person who has taken an formal education of law was allowed to practise law as a Lawyer in the Courts.There were only civil and criminal cases that a lawyer used to deal with. But with the development and openings to various new fields this has given a room for the need to set up the legal departments or need for lawyers.
In every corporate company it is an obligation now to have a law department with the panel of qualified lawyers to deal with the various legal related issues of the company.
A corporate lawyer is a person who looks out for all the legal matters of the company and keep a track of the same.A corporate lawyer must have an interest in solving the various business matters like complex business agreements, business agreements etc. While in order to be at the peak of the career one should hold a good knowledge of Contract Laws,Intellectual Property Rights,Tax and Securities Law and other business related laws.
Interpersonal skills plays a major role in the Law field. A person may work either in the court rooms or in the corporate settings they need to have a good communication skills,listening skills etc. In the corporate work settings one has to deal with many clients and other people so one definitely needs to be very good at the Interpersonal Skills.They play a major role to communicate and propose the things what we wish to convey and also to give advice on various legal issues.
If you wish to make a career as the corporate lawyer than you need to have a good interpersonal skills. They can be improved with the practise on the regular basis.
