The straight answer to this question cannot be none other than a strong YES. Inter personal skills are the most for a manager irrespective of the department he is working in or heads it. One has to remember always that any work cannot be completed by a single person and so if this is the scenario then it is implied that more than one person needs to contribute for a goal and task or a project to see it get completed withinn the time schedule. When two or more person come into picture, inter personal skills are the only ones which help the people in the team to remain united and work towards a common goal set by the manager of the organisation. Apart from the domain knowledge, soft skills and inter personal skills are the ones which binds the group together. It is very important to have inter personal skills since in a team there are definitely cultural issues, ego issues, personal issues, which may hamper the work affecting adversely the organisation's goal and the team ultimately. For a Finance Manager, he definitely has to have inter personal skills since the work of finance, costing, taxation is highly technical and needs to be very accurate in terms of reporting and figures. Therefore where the work is very technical and of high intellect, people should be very muc managed and kept happy and cooperative. It is therefore utmost important for a manager to imbibe the people handling skills by learning inter personal skills to better manage the team and people's mentality to get the maximum out of them every time and that too consistently. Finance Manager does not only mean technically sound person, but also means that he is able and competent enough to help people and reach out to people in his team for any problems and issues where ever necessary without delay. A Finance Manager with good inter personal skills will surely be better equipped to take his departments to greater heights in terms of completion of tasks in time, with accuracy. A Finance Manager who does not have inter personal skills face problems with his team mates surely and it becomes very difficult to manage the work along with people and organisation. Best Luck
