Very Interesting question.

But before I answer your question, My question to you is, " How will you design a piece of jewellery without interacting with a customer or dealer"???

Whether you work on your own, i.e, your own business or with a dealer, which is generally the mode of working, interaction is a must.

But if there is a dealer, the interaction is a bit less, as you are not directly in touch with the customer.

But here, your communication needs to be clear to get the perfect idea what the customer wants.
Since you would be dealing with a middle man, i.e, the customer who has approached a jeweler to get a unique design made.
Though the dealer will get or take all the needed requirements, but ultimately it is your job. So while he explains you the need, you need to be attentive and have your logic in place to understand what exactly is the customer looking out for.
In-case, you are unable to fulfill the requirements, then how will you explain it to the dealer point by point is necessary, so that no confusion exists.

In some cases, even if there is a dealer, the customer definitely likes to speak to the designer, so that the points are laid down satisfactorily.

In your case, you definitely need good communication skills, especially convincing skills and ofcourse a lot of human touch in interacting.

Hope this helps.

Wish you good luck............

Dear Aspirant,

Client interaction is the base for a service oriented organisation.

Jewellery Designers are experts who design jewellery based on the clients requirements, therefore it is important to understand the requirements of them by speaking to them and understanding them.

Best wishes
