Good question.

An Economics degree is equivalent to a Finance degree. But still it is a step higher than the regular financial work that people are involved in like book keeping or accounts.

As an economists, majorly one is involved in statistical and data analysts jobs. They are mainly into prediction of the future economy of any sector where they are employed. This is done through the method of statistical analysis and research. They make use of financial data, balance sheets and past research analysis and then predict the outcome.

As you can note that the job of an economists plays a vital role and hence they find jobs in major organizations both private and government sectors.
Some of the organizations that hire economists includes:
  • RBI
  • Stock markets
  • Indian Economic services
  • Indian Civil services
  • Ministry of Economics affairs

  • PlanningCommissionof India
  • National Institute of Public finance and insurance
  • Service sector
  • Manufacturing and production sector
  • NGO
Miscellaneous
Some of the positions offered includes:
  • Economic adviser
  • Analysts
  • Economic Consultant
  • Researcher
  • Financial Analysts
  • Business Analysts
  • Stock market Analyst
Only because of their ability to read complex problems and statistical knowledge the economists are very much in demand. Since the economy of the country has to be prepared for easy budgeting.

Wish you good luck............
