The role of academics can not be neglected while looking for the job of a civil engineer. The academic performances can be extremely important in certain cases while they are not as important. The various purposes and the relevance of having good academic records have been explained below:

1. If you are a fresher and you have no prior work experience and you are looking to get the job of a civil engineer right after the graduation in this field, in that case you really need to have the right academic records in your profile. This is due to the fact that the academic records are the only criteria to evaluate you and your skills in this case. The academic records mention how sincere you were in your studies and how consistently you have performed in the field of civil engineering.

2. If you are a fresher and you do not have a bright academic record then you need to have very strong profile in terms of projects and extra curricular activities. Again they will be the important criteria in the evaluation process and the projects can be the right way to justify your average performance in the academics. The employers need to understand the reason behind your performance and you can only convince them if you can prove that you have worked on something important, like projects.

3. If you have enough work experience the academic records will not be of that importance. This is due to the fact that in this case you will have so many projects and experience letters to prove your worth as a civil engineer. For any professional the role of work experience is far more than the academics. Therefore they do not have to be much worried about the academics. Yet if you have performed really well in your academics, then you can show that in your profile. Specially the subjects that are related to the employer's field of the job that you are looking for, it will be really important in that case.
