As an Educationist, the first thing I would like to tell you regarding your query is, YES, academic record is very important for a FRESHER looking for any job. The simple reason is a fresher has ONLY this with him to show to the prospective company and society and which can denote how good he is for a job or not. Academics is very important for a student who is graduating since that actually conveys to the world whether the student was sincere, studious and serious. However it does not mean that one should always aim for getting a gold medal, since that is not possible for every one at one time. But the thing, is academic record is the first step for a fresher to qualify for a particular job.




But it does not mean that just having a very good and excellent academic record can ensure a good job, good paying and good job profile. Today the industry is looking for freshers with something extra than just qualification and academic record. This is called as skills which are required to be employable.


Employable skills means computer skills, personality, communication, problem solving ability, positive attitude, leadership, team spirit, politeness, honesty, integrity, confidence, domain expertise and business awareness. Today industry is looking for these skills in graduates and freshers but unfortunately not able to find such candidates always.




Therefore, I would say that along with academic record your other skills and attitude also matters while looking for a job as an Electrical Engineer.
