Dear aspirant

Mechanical Engineer
Thank you for approaching counsellors at meracareerguide. I can very well understand your interest into piping engineering. You come with an excellent background that is an engineering degree in mechanical and then a PGDM in marketing as well. You have mentioned that you are working in marketing since then and you are also in a Manager position in supply chain. Great and well as of now. Now your interest has gone into piping engineering. This is also an excellent engineering course and if you have a true passion for this subject then please go ahead in doing it. The only thing I want to make you aware is that, if you study in piping engineering and then switch careers, some companies wont mind your Manager work status and they will almost treat you as a fresher in piping engineering work. Though your BE Mechanical engineering degree is a plus, as you are going to start fresh work in piping engineering, your pay might not be more than what you are currently drawing now, although you can at least argue for the same pay scale that you are getting now. If you are happy to get adjusted with the fluctuations in the pay scale, then you can very well choose to do a course in Piping engineering.

I can recommend a few universities that offer this course and if you graduate from such universities, there are high chances that you can get good pay when you start work.
1. IIT Bombay - This institute is well known by its name and they offer a certificate course on Piping engineering. They charge around 62000 INR for the course and the last date to apply for the course is May 3, 2014. Once you pay the fee before May 3, 2014 your seat gets confirmed. Their admission is strictly on first come first serve basis. If you cannot go to IIT Bombay and attend the course then you can also register for the online course. You will take 3-4 months to complete the online course. If you have any queries, please write to [email protected]

2. VIT Pune affilaited to Pune university: They have a Diploma course that runs for three months and it is a full time Diploma. Pune residents can also study this part time on weekends. Their next intake starts on first Thursday of July this year for full time and if you want to study part time then their next intake is on first sunday of this July. Part time is run for 10 months.

3. Kagira drawing solutions: This institute offers various certificate and Diploma courses and the good news for you is it is in Chennai. It is also said that they arrange 6 months placements too. They are based at Kottivakkam in Chennai and their address is No. 21A, First floor, Ramalinga nagar, OMR, (SRP Tools), Kottivakkam, Chennai. Also please visit their website to see if they have courses that you expect. If you like then visit their office to know more about the class schedules, fee etc.

All the best.
