Hi Pallavi,
Your problem will be solved by taking the "Stream Selector for Engineering" Psychometric Test on this very website; CareerGuide.com.
The following pointers may be useful to you in making a selection;
1) Where do you see yourself after your engineering? Do you want a job or want to study further? if yes; then what do you want to study? Management, Engineering, anything else?
2) If it is a job that you are targeting; then any of so-called Circuit branches will suit you; viz; Computer Science, Information Technology or Electronics and Communication Engineering.
Nowadays; all streams including Civil or Mechanical Engineering are having equal prospects. If you are a creative person and looking for a design based job; you can try either o these streams.
I would urge you to take the test and it'll really help you in solving this dilemma of yours!
All the very best!
Vinay Wardhan.
Hello Pallavi,
I completely agree with the above counselor. You must choose a specialization depending on the industry you wish to work for in the future, as well as based on your interest.
I would like to add that apart from the stream selector, I want you to read and get a research done on various specialization offered in engineering. By research I mean explore what skills are demanded, its scope and applicability. This will help you make a confirmed choice.
Wish you good luck..
Dear Pallavi,
Thanks for writing to Career Guide.
As suggested by colleagues, psychometric test, stream selector test from www.careerguide.com will help you understand suitable enginerring branch as per your aptitude, and interest.
In addition to psychometric test, you can explore your career aspiration by answering following reflective questions for yourself:
What are your personal strengths & expertise?
What is your passion?/what you are passionate about?
What is your favorite subjects? What do you like most about that subject/s?
What work do you enjoy the most in a day?
Where do you see yourself after 5 years?
What is your life goal/s? How do you want to achieve it/them?
Which career can help you achieve your goals?
Do You plan to start your business after graduation? If yes, which business? Why?
If not, do you plan to pursue higher studies or job? Which job do you want to do?
Answer these questions for yourself. You will be clear about your goals and suitable profession. Now think which engineering branch suitable? Compare your answer with branch suggested by psychometric test. Compare and select most suitable branch do you think you can pursue and do the job that excites you the most.
Hope this is helpful. Should you have any or clarification, feel free to connect me.
Best wishes for your bright career,
Apurva Kumar Pandya, PhD
