Hello Ishan,
Interesting question asked. But I dont understand why a comparison between the two. You choose a course which you have a natural inclination towards.
Please note both MSW and MPH deals with the masses but deals with different conditions there.
A MSW graduate would be more engaged in activities related towards the upliftment of the society. They would target issues like education / illeteracy, daily basic necessities, women empowerement, job availability, etc.
Whereas an MPH, would focus more on the health and hygeine related issues. They are more concerned with avoiding epidemics or illness, pollution control, hygienic conditions etc.
As far as joining the course is concerned, I feel, for working as a Public health professional, being a medical or a para medical professional helps. But these days the course is open for other graduates too.
As far as the colleges are concerned, I would request you to check websites of the colleges based on your criteria, one which you have mentioned is placements, followed by internship facility, teaching methods, professors and proximity and other facilities you are looking out for.
In terms of MSW, I would blindly suggest TISS, Mumbai.
In terms of MPH, check these few colleges:
Hope this helps.
Wish you good luck.......
