Hey Soumita, how do I decide on post graduation? Whether I should go for MS or MTech or MBA? How do I decide? What factors should I consider before deciding on any one?

Dear Aspirant,

Yours is a nice question indeed.

Deciding between MS/MTEch and MBA is relatively simple. Just ask your self, whether you are interested in technical field or a non technical field for the rest of your life? Yes, your decision will determine your entire career life and there fore it is necessary to be cautious. I appreciate that you approached CareerGuide for asking your question and did not choose randomly or out of frustration.

If you wish to remain in the technical engineering field, then doing MS or MTech is recommended. For MS you need to appear for GRE and for MTech you need to appear for GATE. These days MS is most preferred.

Doing MBA at the fresher level, will make you drive to a different road of non engineering sector/domain. If you are not interested in continuing in engineering core field, then you can do MBA and get into business domains, where engineering will not be of any relevance. You can do MBA if you are interested in engineering field for a career, may be after gaining five years of work experience.

Best wishes
