Hello There!

I would like to appreciate your sincerity and seriousness about your career and job outlook and have decided to approach CareerGuide.com for seeking guidance at the right time. I am sure that the experts here will be able to help you take an informed decision.

From your query I get to know that you are on the verge of completing PGD in Human Resource Management from SCDL.

Since SCDL is a distance learning Institute, I would suggest you to start immediately for job search. In your resume you can mention as PGDHM as "Appeared".

Since in your query you have not mentioned your basic academic background, just would like to ask you why did you not puruse regular full time MBA in Human Resource Management from a BSchool?

As far as the industry is concerned, if you are a fresher and have done distance learning course, it is slightly difficult to get entry to a job, since candidates who have done full time courses are more preferred for recruitment.

SCDL does not give placement assurance, so it is very important for you to spread a word abou t your candidature through as many channels/mediums as possible so as to get wide existence.

You should put your resume on top three to four job portals like Naukri.com, Timesjobs.com, etc. so that in the recruiters search your resume comes in the listing.

Also itis very important to list your prior work experience if any or any other achievements in your Cv which may be a good thing to make yourself stand out in the crowd.

As an Educationist, I can say that distance learning courses if done immediately after graduation or without work experience, are not that much accepted by the industry, however Symbiosis's name is very famous and trusted, so you may not be the same case, however it is always beneficial to remain alert, cautious.

Best Luck.

Hello student, it is certainly impressive to see your responsibility towards searching a job to stabilize your future career. Students generally think that they need to complete the degree to be able to apply for jobs and this is totally wrong. Studnets should actively look for jobs or internships right while studying the course. So I would highly recommend you to start looking out for jobs right now itself.

You are from a well recognized university but you are doing a distance education course. Studnets graduating from a fulltime MBA are generally more appealing to employers than students who are doing MBA by distance. But don't get discouraged with this, you can still build up your life with this distance MBA degree. But before that I really need to ask you if you have any existing work experience an dif yes, since how many years are you into work? For companies to recruit students from distance education courses, having already a few years of work experience would stand pleasing. This way if you have had a minimum of two-three years work experience, it will prove easy and useful for you while searching jobs.

However if you are a fresher with no past work experience, you can use a simple startegy to keep your employability rate high and that is only by doing summer internships or mini projects. If you have a few months more to complete your PGDM-HRM then this is the ideal time to look for internships. As you have been studying human resources, I would sincerely advise you to start looking for either full time/ part time or temporray/ contract jobs with recruitment agencies. Getting a job within a recruitment agency is relatively easy for freshers and this will increase their chance to work in top companies in the future. Recruitment agencies can give you full time contract jobs in recruitment, probably as HR Analyst or Recruiter. They might put you in a contract for a minimum of 3-6 months initially and if they like your work they will happily offer you a full time role after the contract ends and by that time you also would have completed your PGDM HR course. You can also post your resume on job portals like Naukri, Times jobs, Monster, Shine and many more. Also create a profile on LinkedIn as thats the best place to find for recruiters and contact them directly too. All together networking is the key. Try to connect with many people to network and hear about job opportunities. Hope this heps. My best wishes to you.
