The Government Services especially civil services has always attracted many of the students to make a career. The candidates who aspire to make a career in the Government and loves to serve the country and the society the civil service is one of the Great career option. Though there are many career opportunities in the Private Sector but still there are many students who wish to make their career in the Government Sector. The posts like IAS , IPS ,IRS,IFS ,Gazette Officer etc. are the central Government posts which are considered to be the respected and the prestigious posts in the society.

A Gazette Officer means a person whose name appears in the official Gazette Published by the Government eg. Judicial Magistrate,IAS or PCS officer etc.A Gazette Officer have special Privileges and have the recognition across the country.

In order to become a Gazette officer one needs to give an Civil Service Exam of IAS conducted by the Union Public Service Comission which is also called as UPSC exam.

The eligibility criteria for the exam is as follows-

  1. A candidate should have completed a Graduation Degree from a recognised University from any stream with minimum 55% or is in the last year of Graduation and is waiting for the result can also apply for the exam.
  2. Those who have completed 21 years of age are eligible to apply for the exam and the upper age limit is 32 years.The age relaxation is 5 years for the Reserved Candidates; for OBC it is 3 years .
  3. There are limits for the attempt of the exam- For General the attempts are 6; for OBC is  and for the reserved there are no limits for the attempt upto age limit.

The exam is conducted in the 2 stages

1. Prelim Exam

2.Main Exam

The officials of Indian Government are known as Gazette Officers. All the Central and State officials those fall under the Category 1st Class are the Gazette Officer.
