As a Business Analyst, your career path in the next five years should progress in one of the following ways:

  • You can continue to work as Business Analyst in the same organization and subsequently move to the senior positions as you gain some experience. That way you can move to Consultant position in two-three years and then Senior Consultant in the next two-three years.
  • You can switch the organization and work in a higher profile or same profile there. This is one way of getting quick promotions but also involves frequently getting out of your comfort zone and accepting the changes in work style and culture.
  • You can go for an MBA (if you haven't got one),after getting good experience as a Business Analyst. The degree will help you grow in to senior positions quickly.
  • You can change the profile, if you are not satisfied with Business Analyst profile. You can move to the general consulting profile or anything according to your interest.
Therefore, where you will be after five years, it all depends on what kind of work do you like and where do you want to excel
