Progress is quite a personal choice and is set by the person itself. If you have made a plan and see yourself successful in that plan, you would have tp plan accordingly.

Most important is joining a company that can target the growth you looking out for.\Though 5 years is a very short time, but nevertheless, you could begin your growth and achieve at least 80% of your plan in terms of growth.

During the course itself, you would be exposed to internship that is where your base needs to be concreted. Here you need a proper exposure, may be under a well experienced CA itself or with a PVT organization which will expose you to the nitty gritty of the work.

Till the time you get your degree, get your foot placed in an organization based on your experience and in any one of the roles of a CA, i.e either taxation or budgeting or Audit.

Best is initially get an exposure to all areas during your interns and master one and then finally choose which is your strength and then pursue it further.

Since interns in a CA are quite long, till the time you get your degree and professionally set up, you will have already have established yourself in one of the areas.
Chances are that you being good with your work and also have been able to maintain good relations with people and company, though 5 years is a short span, but you definitely have chances to begin on your own.

But preferably, get yourself exposed to different organization right from a small scale to large scale to government to PVT organization.

Plan ahead and set up a goal and get in touch with the right people and organization, success will be guaranteed.

Wish you all the very best....
