Psychiatry involves dealing with mental health issues. Mainly involved with nuerotic and psychotic disorders.

As a psychiotrists you would mainly be involved in medication and counseling, whereby genrally a Psychioaitris since comong from the medical background, is mainly into drug administering and not counseling.

To be a full time psychiatrists, you need to do your 12th ( 10+2) in science stream. Post that appear for various entrance exams for medical like AAIPMT, AIMS, CET and so on. MBBS which is a 5 1/2 years course, which includes internships too. Post MBBS, you need to pursue MD or masters in Psychiatry, which is a 2 years course, for which again you have to clear entrance exams.

As a Psychiatrists, you can begin work independently, or you could gain experience by working in a Hospital. Mainly a Psychiatrists opts to work as a consultant with various hospitals after few years of experience and have their own clinics too.

Initially it would be good if you could gain experience working in a hospital. Post that you could work as a consultant and begin your own clinic too.
To be successful as a Psychiatrists, definitely, the easy route is medications. But apart from it, if you are well versed with remedial, i.e. counseling therapies, it would be an added advantage. Or you could hire a counselor or collaborate with one counselor in your nearby area.
Apart from this it would be good, if you could get other certifications done like NLP, Hypnotherapy, Aura therapy, so on and so forth.

Though these are a back up, since your main mode of treatment if through medications. But apart from the routine, you could try other means too, since connecting with the client is also important especially when dealing with milder issues at hand.

All the very best..............
