Meteorologists study the earth's atmosphere and the effect it has on the earth's surface. They monitor and interpret atmospheric conditions and use their observations to make short term weather forecasts. Some meteorologists study and measure global climate change over longer periods and assess the implications of this for humans and the environment. To be a good meteorologist one needs to have an enquiring mind, good analytical skills, the ability to deal with large amounts of information, alogical approach to problem solving, keen observation, self reliance and good verbal as well as written communication skills.
To identify whether you have right interest and aptitude to be a meteorologist ,you are advised to get your psychometric assessment done. The assessment involves measuring the aptitude, interest and personality of the student through standardized psychological tests. The test are administered and analyzed by psychologist. On the basis of results a unique career plan is generated for the student. A career plan highlights the main interest, high and low aptitude areas and personality attributes of the student. To make student aware of the contents of career plan , a detailed career counselling session is carried out by the certified career counsellor. The main aim of the counselling session is to assist the student in making an informed career decision.
