This is a very interesting question i must say. To answer this i have some questions to ask you. How did you get the idea of becoming a Zoologist ? Because if you were genuinely interested in zoology you would not have asked this question.

Are you following your peer group ? It is very simple to know why a person is interested in a particular subject. Are you interested to have pets at home ? If yes then this must be one of the possibilities.

Are you always inquisitive to know more about animals and keep reading about them, then this is the subject for you. Still it is not easy to study Zoology. Its not only about animals but everything about animals , internal and external structure, day and night behavior, systems etc and many more things.

Now a days every body is interested to keep animals as their pets but this does not mean they want to become a zoologist.

We study zoology as a separate subject from std eighth till 12th and then we actually decide the subjects for graduation , now here we come to know about our interests. If we choose zoology as one of the subjects this shows that we are interested to study zoology. Once you decide to do your graduation with the subject you automatically go for your post graduation with the same subject and this is how you become a zoologist and of course you may do your PhD.also. When you are interested in a subject you only know how and why.
