I am delighted to hear that you have been thinking to make your career as Radio Officer. Many of the students are not aware about this career and alos don't give a thought to make a career in this field.There has been not much awareness about this filed and so many students lack the knowledge of this field.
One who loves to travel countries and who is not not sick of sea can definitely make a good career as an radio officer on the ship. In order to become a Radio Officer one must have some of the aptitudes like must be able to work in team,should be flexible with time,very attentive,ready to be away from the loved ones for long time,should love to travel and should not be sick of sea.
The work of the Radio Officer is to take the note of Weather Reports, to contact the Nearby ports and other ships all this is needed to be done by the Radio officer for the smooth journey of the Ship. While he also have to co ordinate with the Ship Crew members.
In order to become a Radio officer on a ship one should have completed his 12th from science stream with subjects like Mathematics,Physics and CHemistry. One must have completed 17 years of age. Minimum height should be 150 cms.
You have to take up a course of Marine Radio Officers Course.Examinations for these courses are conducted by Ministry of Communication of India.These courses COP,ROGC,RTG,RTR,RTIM are internationally recognised. On successful completion of the course one have an opportunity to work both in Public as well as Private Sector.
With the experience one can become Senior Radio Officer.
