The communication skills are very important for the role of a textile engineer. The communication skills play an important role throughout their careers. The value of communication skills is often under estimated and therefore many professionals do not work enough on them which is not a right thing to do. Below are the reasons and explanations that will help you understand the importance of communication skills and how they can help you in your professional journey as a textile engineer:


1. The textile engineers need to arrange meetings with the senior management officials and give presentations on their plans for the project. The presentations require great amount of communication skills so that they can leave their impression and convince the managers to accept their proposals.

2. The textile engineers are required to meet their clients on the regular basis and they work on a number of things during these interactions. If they can communicate well with the clients and leave a good impression on them, it will be of great help for the organization and the project. Therefore they have to work on these skills so that they can convince the clients for a particular idea or proposal. It is also important to maintain healthy relationships with clients and again the role of communication skills is huge.

3. The textile engineers have to communicate with many other professionals including engineers, technicians and other workers. They closely work with the suppliers and therefore they have to fix the deals. They are also required to send out the necessary communications through emails, letters etc. These all things require them to have wonderful communication skills and not only verbal but written as well. They need to ensure that each communication that they make, is correct and as per the requirements.

2. an eye for colour, texture and pattern
3. The ability to visualize things in three dimensions
4. Technical skills in areas such as pattern cutting, grading, and garment construction
5. To be able to draw, either by hand or on the computer
6. Good communication skills to explain their ideas clearly and persuasively.
7. The ability to meet deadlines and work within a budget.
8. Business skills and commercial awareness, particularly if they are self-employed.
9. Good negotiation skills when selling their own designs.
10. To keep ahead in trends in colour, fabric and style.
11. Strong organizational skills.


Carrer Opportunities:
Graduates can have opportunities in production development and management, retail management, apparel designing, visual merchandising, technical designing, fashion writing and editing, quality control, museum collection management, and thetrical costuming.

Other related fields and career titles could include operations manager, apparel sales representative, pattern maker, product devloper, fashion buyer, fashion consultant, textile research scientist, technical designer, store manager, quality assurance evaluator, costume designer and many more.
