The communication skills of a Translator or Interpreter are very important. This whole profession is all about communicating and that too in different ways. Below are the more explanations why communication skills are very important in this important.

1. The first and the foremost thing for any translator or interpreter is the understanding of the language. That is only possible if they are good enough in their communication skills. They have to be good in both written and verbal communication skills in order to be effective in their profession.

2. The translators or interpreters have to interact with a number of people as a part of their profession. The people they usually interact with are of different countries, cultures and societies and therefore the only way to connect to them is the language. Therefore they have to be really good at language in order to provide the valuable contribution in their work.

3. The communication skills are not only about verbal exchange. In fact they are more about the non verbal communication. Gestures and body language play an important role in this regard. A translator or interpreter has to learn these non verbal gestures while communicating to other people That way the communication process becomes simpler and far more effective.

4. Any translator or interpreter has to learn how to simplify the communication so that it becomes easy to communicate the thoughts and exchange the ideas. They work on it all the time and conduct their research. In this regard it becomes extremely important that they themselves are perfectly good in their communication skills else they won't be that effective.

5. The translators or interpreters often meet prominent people as they have to exchange the ideas between two or more parties. That way it is important for them to communicate really well so that they can mark their impression on the other person. They have to be very consistent and brilliant in this.
