Ophthalmologists are medical specialists who cater to patients who have eye problems. As an Ophthalmologist, you work on the following things in your day to day work:

  • Whether you work in your private clinic or in a hospital, your day will start early.
  • There are appointments throughout the day and you have to provide the treatment as per the case.
  • You will spend quite a lot of time with other ophthalmologists, discussing the cases you are dealing with and if they can provide you any advice.
  • A good amount of time is spent in doing the clinical work. Prescribing the right medicines and treatment, and performing the medical tests.
  • You will also have to perform surgery wherever required. You may not do it every day, but generally there are four to five surgeries in a week and you will have to schedule them as per the requirements.
  • Some ophthalmologists spend some oftheir time teaching a subject or taking guest lecturesin a medical college.
