The typical day of an Electronics Instrumentation and Control Engineer is spent in a variety of activities as explained below:

  • Most of the times, they are working for large organizations. Therefore the project meetings are often the top priority at the beginning of the day.

  • Once they are done with the meeting, they keep a check on the emails and make sure that they reply to the urgent ones.

  • They have to make a number of observations throughout the day and make their reports on that. They also make the measurements and make notes on them.

  • They spend some time with design engineers understanding the design and work on the equipments accordingly.

  • Since they have to work on the maintenance part of the instruments, they work with technicians and guide them in their day to day activities.

  • They do their analysis on the data collected by them. Most times these days they work on analytics software.

  • They also write the test procedures for the testing team.

  • Troubleshooting and problem solving remains a task throughout the day. Mostly unexpected.

  • They help the operations team in procuring new instruments and equipments.

  • They manage operations, specially when they are at senior level.

  • The day is generally filled with wide range of activities, but that also adds to the fun as they rarely complain about monotonous work.
