Homeopathy is a system of medicine. , in which a drug and disease that produce similar symptoms cancel each other out in some way thereby restoring the patient's to health. Homeopaths diagnose and treat a wide variety of illnesses. They are trained to vie patients holistically and to apply treatment according to the individual needs , peculiarities, reactions and modalities of patients. Homeopaths take detailed case histories of their patients and do physical examination then make a diagnosis and prescribe the appropriate homeopathic medicines. In homeopathy remedy is chosen based on the symptoms as well as the characters and temperament of the patient.
A homeopath should be versatile, able to work independently and have well developed sense of responsibility,since the work involves humanhealth and lives. They should also be physically fit and emotionally well balanced since the physical and emotional demands of homeopathic practice are considerable. Sympathy and compassion are to be combined with clarity of mind and scientific objectivity to produce competent , approachable and caring practioners whose primary concern is the welfare and well being of their patients.

There are many job opportunities both in India and abroad. A homeopathic practioner can get employment as medical officer at government and private homeopathic hospitals. One can also start his/her own practice or open one's own retail shop of homeopathy medicines. Homeopathic doctors can work in industries engaged in homeopathic preparations. He can also work as professor in homeopathic colleges or do research. A BHMSdegree holder can also open up his own pharmacy after certain years of experience.
