This is how the typical workday of a Video Jockey is like:

  • They have to get up on time and see the happenings in the world around. They read the news daily and stay updated.

  • They check their emails and ensure that they make the necessary communications to the TV channel.

  • They have to check the schedule and prepare accordingly.

  • They may have to travel to a particular site, if the shooting is taking place other than studio.

  • They interact with variety of people and learn about the happenings around the city.

  • They prepare the playlist, if required. They also have to plan the each part of the show.

  • Sometimes they have to follow a script. In that case, they usually practice a lot.

  • The show is shot in the decided location. Whether it is live or not, they have to do it with comfort and ease to make the show look wonderful.

  • Throughout the show they must be able to interact with everyone comfortably. If they are conducting an interview, they must ensure that they follow the script.

  • After the show, they interact with everyone on the set and take their feedback as to how to improve on various aspects.
