Chemical engineers are responsible for the conception and design of processes for the purpose of production , transformation and transportation of materials. The large number of industries which depends on the synthesis and processing of chemicals and materials place the chemical engineers in great demand. The chemicals engineers are required in energy and oil industries. Their demand is equally increasing in biotechnology, clinical research, pharmaceuticals, electronic device fabrication and environment engineering related industries as well. In biotechnology , chemical engineers are responsible for designing of production facilities to use microorganism s and enzymes to synthesize new drugs. Problems in environmental engineering that engage chemical engineers include the development of processes to minimize the release of or deactivate products harmful to to the environment. Biochemical engineering involves the study of mammalian tissues, virus removal from blood, protein manipulation and array of genetic engineering technologies
. These research scientists are leading the way to a number of cures and treatments that are improving the health humans. Almost all students majoring in chemical engineering are well aware of the use of resources like oil and natural gas and can delve into research for more efficient methods of obtaining these fuels and exercising them to their full potential. With a huge scope of growth, owing to the industrial expansion and related scarcity of resources needed , chemical engineering is emerging to be an immensely promising and lucrative career choice . The earnings of chemical engineer depends upon his work area and industry he is working with. e.g the salary of chemical engineers working with oil and gas industry in comparison to engineers working with food industry are higher. Certain chemical engineers are promoted to management positions as well. While less involved in technology , they make policy and business decisions, train new engineers and solve human rather than technical problems. Salary of such professional is higher than those working in core engineering area.
