Few years ago, beauty treatment included basic treatments like hair cut, facial etc. There used to be few parlors in cities. With globalization, number of therapies and treatments has increased. Many brands like L’oreal , Lakme have their own salon chains.

With this change, role of beautician has changed a lot. It is not just reading out name of haircuts and asking the preferred one but discussing the treatment with the client and giving suggestions. A beautician should be a good listener and have knowledge of various beauty products that will suit the client. In future, beauty services will be home delivered i.e. client can book two or three hours of service and type of service to be delivered at home. It might include advanced treatment or preventive therapies .This sector will have great growth in India.
