  • Earlier the role mostly involved hiring and firing of the people. Nurturing and retaining the talent was not that important. This is gaining more importance these days.
  • Training and Development has become an important part of Human Resource Management and a lot of effort and expertise is required in this area.
  • Human Resource Managers were earlier not involved in the policy making. Now it has changed. They play an important role in deciding the workplace policies.
  • The salaries have grown tremendously over the years and they continue to grow as the role becomes more and more prominent.
  • Previously they did not have to get involved in various activities in workplace to entertain the employees. Nowadays it is an important exercise to enhance workplace satisfaction.
  • Going forward, the role will become more powerful and will involve more strategic work rather than implementation. The implementation will be done by HR generalists only.
