Industrial engineering is allaboutdesigning / managing methods and procedures toincreaseproductivity , quality andefficiencyin manufacturing process. Due to the increasing complexity of industrial operations and the expansion of automated processes in factories and offices , the role of an industrial engineer in various industrial processes has changed tremendously.

Industrial engineers are
responsiblefor designing better methods and facilities for manufacturing and services.

They play ac vital role in setting up a manufacturing unit.

They are responsible for determining the suitability of locations for factories depending on the best combination of raw material availability , transportation and costs.

As most of large scale manufacturing units are using automated production process with an aim to enhance production and efficiency of the products manufactured , it is the
responsibilityof an instrumentation engineer to determine what aspect of production needs to be automated and if it makes financial sense.

They also have to decide upon the machines which fits the requirements. Industrial engineers nowadays also
assistindustries in financial planning, cost analysis , designing production systems as well as quality control procedures .
