Usually, we go to a doctor whenever there is a health issue, he/she prescribes some medication and after taking them for 1 or 2 days, one can easily notice symptoms going away and feeling right as rain, but how many of us are aware that western medications have severe side effects on our body. Having said that one could easily conclude that these medicines are not capable of treating the disease, they could only control or suppress the symptoms associated with a particular disease which opens the doors for another major health issues as these medicines are prepared using strong chemicals that make the organs suffer in long run.

In the last few years, people have realized that western medication is not the solution and have started searching for another option to treat a chronic illness, condition or improper functioning of some organ. Homeopathy has gained a lot of attention because it completely has no side effects and treats a health problem from its root cause instead of controlling or suppressing the disease. People are heading to homeopathic doctors to prevent their body from suffering even more instead of getting better by taking western medicines.

Course Information

Homeopathic courses are available at first degree and postgraduate degree levels. The first-degree course is offered by 118 colleges affiliated to various universities and is recognized as Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery (BHMS). The eligibility to apply for admission is 10+2 examination with minimum 50% marks with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English from a recognized university. The duration is of 5 and a half year including one year of internship similar to another medical course. To get admission it is mandatory to clear NIH BHMS examination.There are several other authorities that conduct BHMS entrance exam such as:

  • All State level Common Medical Entrance Exam
  • Delhi University Entrance Exam
  • IP University Common Entrance Test

After years of experience, one could open his/her own pharmacy as well.

 

Remuneration

Starting salary for a Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery is between 8k – 10k. While aprofessor in homeopathic college could earn a bit better. One could earn more in well reputed private sectors depending on the work and efforts he/she puts in. Setting a pharmaceutical company is even more remunerative than other jobs.
