Hello My Dear Sandeep...

I am very glad to see you approach us at CareerGuide.com for seeking guidance to your genuine and indeed good query. I compliment you for earning work experience of three years as Planning Engineer. Now that you are interested in IT industry, you definitely need to re work your career techniques. I am happy that you already learnt Oracle which is beneficial for IT industry.

You have already worked in Construction company in planning department, which according to me, is not a opportunity which every Engineer can get. Actually I would say that you are fortunate that you got this opportunity.. Your electrical engineering background is very important and beneficial and required for construction and infrastructure industry.

Can you tell me a specific reason why after working for three years you wish to shift to IT sector? Did you get bored in construction company? or Did you feel that construction industry is meant for you or does not suit your liking, interests? or Do you think IT is a booming sector and you can earn more money and status by joining IT company / sector?

As far as construction company and the experience you have had is concerned, I would recommend you to learn Project Management for a more sustainable, growing, non-monotonous, and much required skill in the construction industry.

I would like you to suggest that since you have gained good experience of three years in construction industry, doing a short term course in construction project management will be BEST since it will give an icing to your experience.

Though you have done Oracle, it is not sufficient and you will still be considered as a fresher and you would not get a salary more than your current salary scale since construction and IT industry are two different.

I would suggest you to reconsider your decision of joining IT. Construction is having tremendous scope for construction project management professionals.

Best Luck
