How to find funding for making movies on social subjects?

I am a writer/director with vast experience of working with leading advertising agencies as a creative director. Presently I am working on a feature film project that deals with the issue of lack of English language education in rural India and the issue of colonial complex. Till now I am unable to find a funding source for this project.

Wow.. You have a vast experience and your topic for the feature film too is unique.


A such since you are into the industry, you may be well aware that, there are a lot of creative people in the industry with unique ideas, but are unable to fund their projects as it is a rat-race there.

The only question I have in mind here is, are you fine with being at the backend and not wanting your name in the forefront like being a Psedo writer or director.

If that is the case then you could approach the film fraternity like SRK group or Anupam Kher or Ashutosh Gowarikar, Aamir Khan they are mainly into the social cause project. But mind you since they would invest they would want the project to be named under their banner.

Or else, though it is a struggle, you would have to approach the banks or other entrepreneur groups who could fund your project.
But since this would be your first film, you definitely would have to work a lot harder in terms of promoting the movie. This would not be a problem, since you are into advertisements, your contact there could help you out.

Another team you could approach is the news channel team or the serial production houses or television channels like Sony or SAB and so on.
