Dear Mr Sumit,

The IPR sector or intellectual property rights sector has been growing tremendously in the past two years.  More and more people are registering for patents, copyrights and trademarks.  There are also lot of outsourced jobs related to this area in India, like patent docketing, patent searching, paralegal jobs, patent analytics, etc.  The sector has a very high growth potential and it is comparatively easy.  Any one joining the industry now, will earn near about 10 lakhs per annum in a couple of years. The starting salary is good, from 3-5 lakhs per annum. When you are in a sector like IPR your exposure is very high and you will be generally working with branded companies, as only those companies who have good budget for research and development will spend in patents.

Hope this helps

Happy career planning

Dear Aspirant,

Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) is an excellent career option in the field of law. There is specialisation available in law courses in IPR.

IPR is about the copyrights, patents, geographical indications, trademarks, etc. which are the intellectual property of an organisation and organisations are very much keen to protect them through the IPR laws. There are also litigations which arise in this field where expert advocates are required to plead in the Court of Law.

For a career in IPR domain, doing a LLB course is recommended. After that a Masters in Law (IPR) is possible or a Diploma in IPR Law is also possible. Specialisation in the IPR Law through a course is recommended for a good career ahead.

There are jobs also available.

Best wishes
