Indira Charitable Trust, Thiruvananthapuram, established Rajadhani Institute of Engineering and Technology (RIET) in 2009, which has provided a wide range of business and societal activities in Higher Education, Hospitality and Tourism, Construction, and Information Technology over the past few decades. RIET started with four BTech programmes in 2009 and now provides BTech programmes in eight engineering and technology fields, two MTech/PhD programmes in civil engineering, a two-year MBA programme, a four-year BHMCT degree, and five three-year diploma programmes.

The All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi, has approved the college, which is affiliated with APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University. The college offers NBA-accredited programmes and is in the process of becoming NAAC-accredited.
