Hello Ayush,
From your query, it is clear that you wish to pursue an MBA and hence preparing for CAT.
As such, there is no fixed pattern for the preparation. Never the less, practice is a must. Join a coaching class to learn the basic concept. After that, you need to develop your own shortcuts to reach the right answer.
Please note, this is important especially for the quantitative ability section. They are not like the school math paper where every step mattered. Here you need to know the method to solve the question initially and then understanding the logic derive shortcuts to reach the final answer.
As said earlier, practice is the key. Solve as many papers you can. At this stage of preparation solve each and every question to face all types of questions. But as time approaches, begin to time yourself. Because the club of scoring in any competitive exam is solving maximum questions
in a short period of time rather allotted time, but getting the answers right.
Wish you good luck...
Please do ignore my earlier response. You had asked about CA and I responded for CAT.
As far as CA preparations are concerned just like competitive exams are concerned a student needs continous practice and complete dedication. You need to dedicate more time for this exam. Joining a coaching class is essential as with practice at home. At the sametime, incase if you know a practicing CA you could take their help too.
Please note CA is tough. Even best to best students can fail. So do not give up.
Hope this helps.
