Well, it depends how much time you have already spent in a teaching profession and the qualification you possess right now. If you are just a graduate in mechanical engineering with less than 5 years of experience in the teaching profession, you can pursue a post graduation in your area of choice , be it automotive, mechatronics, robotics, industrial design etc and apply for jobs ideally in the research and development rather than going for PPC, maintenance or other profiles. Prepare yourself thoroughly for interview question - justifying reasons for shifting from teaching to industry.
