There are three to four rounds for admission procedure for engineering course. Are you appearing for twelfth next year? The rules and procedure for admission rounds change every year. These rules are different for admission based on IIT JEE rank and admission based on state level entrance exam rank.
You can get the detailed information on the official websites of these exams. Do not worry about the process if you are in twelfth standard now as the process may vary next year. You can read it after you take the entrance exam and shortlist your preferences accordingly.

Dear Friend, there are certain high-profile colleges and universities which consider national level test qualification like AIEEE/JEE for admission and there are some other which have their own criteria/test for admission like NEST/BITSAT etc. to name a few.
