Hello

Thank you for choosing Mera career guide and writing to us. You have clearly stated that you are not interested in Engineering. And this rules out a major track. Fine. So lets think of other career options you may consider to pursue.

Before I advice you on a career route, it is essential to know which career route suits your personality. therefore I advice you to seriously consider taking up the psychometric test from this Mera career website. This psychometric test will help you know you as a person, your strengths and values towards your career. It will prescribe the careers that are only suited to your personality. However I can generally guide you on careers that you can try with a PCM route. I believe you are studying Physics, Chemistry and Maths. If you don't want an Engineering career then you can certainly consider a Bachelors of Science BSc program.
You can therefore consider studying the following courses:
  1. BSc Computer science
  2. BSc Information technology
  3. BCA Bachelor of computer applications
  4. BSc Maths
  5. BSc Physics
  6. BSc Chemistry
  7. BSc Bio organic chemistry
  8. BSc Bio chemistry
  9. BA Sociology
  10. BSc History
  11. BSc Geography
  12. BA Political science
  13. BBA Bachelor of Business administration
  14. BSc Statistics
  15. BSc Astro physics
  16. BSc Electronics
  17. B.Des. Fashion technology
  18. B.Des. Interior designing
  19. B.Des. Textile designing
  20. BSc Web design, animation courses

You can consider studying any of the above degrees but it is essential for you to decide what suits you and what interests you the most. If you complete BSc degree you can either go into work or choose studying further. After BSc students most likely choose studying a two year masters degree like the MSc or MA and then work. You can either work in education sector or at corporates. If you want to work in education sector, you can work as a lecturer and for this you should write and qualify either UGC NET/ UGC LEC/ UGC SET. With either of these qualifications you are qualified to work as a Masters degree. Else you can also choose to study a PhD after the MSc degree. This PhD is a three year program and to study a PhD, a masters degree plus a UGC NET/ UGC CSIR and a UGC JRF is required. Completing a PhD, you are regarded as a researcher/ scientist and it is the highest academic qualification.

Hi Mehul..Best options after 12th PCM other than engineering are B.Sc in basic science courses like Chemistry, Physics, Maths, or in new streams like Biotechnology, Microbiology, Food technology etc

. If you are interested in creative arts you can pursue courses like B.Design, Fine Arts, Performing  Arts, etc. Other available options for you are Hotel Management, Mass Communication and Journalism etc. You can choose right course by collecting more information from websites of best institutes which offers these courses like SRM University, Lovely Professional University, Delhi university etc. You will get good placement opportunities too from these institutes.
