I am a graduate and I have worked for 7.5 years with US BPO companies. There is hardly any scope to get a day shift job in the same field. Thus, I am looking forward to change my career field

Dear Aspirant
Welcome to CareerGuide.com
We understand you and provide you with best career choices

You have very good experience in communication and human interaction. 7.5 years of experience in BPO sector, for sure, must have provided these. You are also a graduate. Nice meeting you here. You are different in your own ways.

Now, I always advice people to stick to their field and enhance their education so that they could be promoted in their own work place. In BPO career, you can reach further up with the help of education enhancement. For the time being, you may not get day shift, but when you get qualified as a manager or equivalent, that should not be a problem and the pay package also could be interesting.

Otherwise, as I already told you, you definitely could reconsider. The choice depends on what degree you are holding now. In any case, you should go for further studies. Because, 7.5 years in BPO sector gave you good salary. Once you leave that sector and go for a new one, BPO experience may not be counted and therefore you may not get the same salary package. It should be lower. Get ready for that.

You must be having good communication and oral skills and HR managing abilities after working in such an area. Utilize that while selecting a new area. I shall advice HR field itself. Otherwise pure management. Sectors are available. You can select IT. Services, Industries etc. Go for MBA in HR or PGDM.

Once you are with such a qualification, and with your experience in BPO sector, it is anybody's guess, that you are a successful person. I think you have it in you. You can take any of the psychometric assessments to know your aptitude and skills. Then decide.

Hope my guidance is of good value to your career.
Good luck.

Hello There!

Looking at your question, I remembered my previous years in the industry where I also worked in evening/night shift for a US based Mutual Fund Asset Management company as a Process Lead. Really working in a night shift more years gets really bothersome and hectic and affects the body and personal life adversely. I have full sympathies for you my dear... You have worked for more than seven years which is itself an achievement at a personal level for you...

I would surely like to advice you and I am glad that you approached CareerGuide.com for seeking guidance and help and advice for your genuine, true and worthy career query.

Let me tell you that there is surely a way out from this and you need not feel frustrated at all. What you have is good amount of work experience which is the most valuable thing and most considered important thing i the industry. Be positive for this factor to shift your career path.

Before I advice you, let me tell you a bit about my self... I am an Educationist and an Economist! I have been into career counselling for more than seven years now and have counselled students from the fields of engineering / law / commerce / management / finance, etc. I am also into teaching. I am also an author to may articles and research papers on various topics including career management and economics and they are published in reputed newspapers and magazines across the India for more than ten years now.

Taking into consideration that you are a Graduate and have work experience of more than seven years, I suppose that you are in the middle level of the management i.e. may be a Senior Analyst, Senior Executive, Procces Lead, Assistant Project Lead, etc. If you are not at this level, I think you should try to sit for the internal promotion examinations and get those designations. If you already have one of those designation, then you future job and career path can be easy to change.

What I would suggest first is, try to find the Indian BPOs/KPOs like Wipro, Infosys, Bharati Group, ICICI, Bajaj Finance, Airetl, Reliance, Idea, Flipkart, Myntra, IndiaInfoline, etc. which have BPOs. Since these are Indian companies and have majorly Indian businesses and customers, they will be having day shift jobs definitely.
Since as mentioned earlier, since you have good amount of BPO experience already, you will definitely have an edge over others appearing for interview since you have the global and international perspective in handling team and work.

I think you should start approaching either through emails or walk-ins to such companies and I am sure that somewhere some company must be waiting for a person like you. You will also get good increase in salary. Please put your CV on top job portals like Naurki, Shine, Timesjobs, etc and mention that you want day shift clearly. Keep a watch on Times Ascent and local newspaper jobs advertisements and go for Walk-ins.

If you are interested in further education, you may pursue part time recognised MBA in Finance or HR, which will give a value add to current employer and future employers too.

Best Luck Dear...
